Whitaker Planning & Design Limited was formed in March 2006 and draws on the many years of experience in Residential and Commercial architecture of its Managing Director, Stephen H Whitaker MCIAT ACIOB.

Whilst Stephen's experience of some 40 years, in all sectors of the profession, has given him a considerable knowledge of building design, specifications, buildability and contract administration, his interest in the residential sector has always remained his passion.

The creation of living spaces to enhance and improve peoples lifestyles within the constraints of their particular situations is the challenge Stephen accepts on all his commissions, regardless of size and budget. Stephen 'listens' to his clients, taking note of their requirements and suggesting, where appropriate, alternative ideas to achieving the best design and cost effective solution to their aspirations.

The majority of Stephen's commissions are based on recommendation, from both satisfied clients and builders, the latter in particular finding his drawings and specifications easy to understand and to build from.

Over the years Stephen has also built up a good relationship with Planning and Building Control Officers and understands their requirements and expectations when submitting applications for approval. Stephen is also a member of the Householder Planning Forum run by Leeds City Council at which a select group of architectural professionals and senior Planning Officers meet on a regular basis to discuss problems and changes to planning legislation.
